Sometimes you have to put the tailored cuts and knitted pieces to bed to make room for something a little sassier, and this was one of those days. Fishnets have erupted all over social media and in the fashion world in a big way, and although I’m usually one to avoid those sort of trends, I couldn’t help but get involved in this one.
Rather than go all out with fishnet tights or socks which I’ve seen pretty much everywhere, I decided on a body that can be styled a multitude of ways. My favourite? The slight peek of the sexy material showing from underneath an outfit. Kinda like this one.
Fishnets tend to have overtly sexy connotations which is why I kept the rest of the outfit simple with a loose shirt dress that you might have seen in one of my earlier posts and an unstructured blazer in a gorgeous copper shade to finish it off with a pop of colour. Rather than keep it safe in the footwear department, I decided on a pair of over the knee boots. I mean, if you’re going to choose fishnets for an outfit, you might as well go the whole way and pair it with look-at-me boots right?
Another trend that I’ve succumbed to is the whole choker thing – yes for the 90s resurgence! I’ve got a thing for stacked jewellery and layered pieces so my favourite necklace went really well with the minimal velvet choker and complemented the blazer well too.
As I referenced earlier, I styled this shirt in a previous post for a daytime date and if I was going to stick some context on this outfit, I’d say this would be appropriate for that sexy sort of evening date. Have a quick peek at how I styled the shirt in my previous outfit post here and let me know what you think of this look in the comments. Items and similar pieces linked below.
