The Black Midi Dress

It always get to the beginning of Autumn when I think to myself, you know what I don’t wear enough of? Dresses! Yes, the onset of crisp mornings and dark days makes me want to get my legs out. Makes perfect sense… As we’re in that weird transitional period where Summer doesn’t really want to end but Autumn wants in, you can still get away with  dresses and skirts and I think that this black midi dress is the perfect option.

It’s a typical ‘little black dress’ with just the right amount of small touches to make it stand out. It’s ribbed, knitted and long sleeved which makes it a warmer option than its alternatives. It has some sexy off the shoulder action going on which means that you can couple it with heels and minimal jewellery for an evening date, or dress it down like I did for a slightly edgy outfit. Plus, it’s an actual midi. How many other tall girls can appreciate a midi dress that actually hits your calf? This piece actually ticks all the right boxes.

I teamed my black midi dress with my go-to leather jacket and chunky boots to toughen it up. Boots have been my favourite choice of footwear for a good few years, so I’m aiming to implement them in every single outfit that I can. With Autumn on its way in, I’m looking forward to stocking up on ankle and OTK boots so keep an eye out for them.

All of the pieces I’m wearing are from Zara but as they’re no longer available, I’ve listed some alternatives. You can find a ribbed dress, an off the shoulder dress for the taller ladies and patent boots over at ASOS, and you can find a similar leather jacket at Zara.
